I don't read a ton of nonfiction, but when I do, it's usually a memoir. I also don't give out many five star ratings, but when I do, it's usually to nonfiction. I picked up this book because I voyeuristically loved the TV show "Army Wives" and thought it would be an interesting slice-of-life from a real Army wife. I closed it with a few tears in my eyes because it was such a beautiful picture of navigating a marriage that looked nothing like what the author thought it would. It also paints a beautiful picture of womanhood and female friendship. (And yes, the peek at the Army life, especially during the years covered by the book, was quite interesting...)
