dark lighthearted fast-paced

This book was a bit difficult for me to get through. I liked it but a lot of the book felt kind of irrelevant to the story. But then I got to the end and it all made a lot more sense.

"There was no one to distract her, no one for her to love. She was alone in the world, alone in her grief, and alone with her pain."

Much like [b:The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince|17428643|The Beast Within A Tale of Beauty's Prince|Serena Valentino|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1394411414s/17428643.jpg|24284974], Poor Unfortunate Soul addressed Ursula's story. It did not add to anything of the story of The Little Mermaid. But I did enjoy this one much better than the beast.

Ursula grew up not knowing what she was and her human father died protecting her. That was all that was added to Ursula's story. This book focused once again on Princess Tulip Morningstar, the Odd Sisters and Circe.

It mostly felt like a build up to [b:Mistress of All Evil: A Tale of the Dark Fairy|34220302|Mistress of All Evil A Tale of the Dark Fairy|Serena Valentino|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1495803202s/34220302.jpg|55271944]. I mean how many times did they mention the Dark Fairy. I would've enjoyed this book more if it was just titled after the Odd Sisters or any of the other main characters rather than being titled after a character you don't spend much time with.

That's pretty much my issue with this series. The first book was intended to be a stand alone book so it strictly focused on the Evil Queen. The second book I thought was ok with it's inclusion of the Odd Sisters. This book was great but it focused more on everyone else but Ursula. Hopefully the next book's main focus is on Maleficent. I'm reading this series to read about the villans, not the Odd Sisters.

Not my favorite of the first three. Seemed to move a lot slower and was semi-repetitive. I feel like I've liked these less as I got farther from the first one.

Lovely easy read. Great for a readathon. Loved that it included so many other characters from different fairy tales.

Same ol' thing as the last 2.
