Another amazing book! Honestly I'm obsessed with this series and I'm so happy 4 more have been announced *fingers crossed for Yzma!*

This was brilliantly done and honestly made me dislike Triton and view him as the true villain overall!

I've already read Mistress of all Evil so onto Mother knows best!

Honestly Ursula isn’t even in this one as much, which I wasn’t expecting. There were too many other POV’s and not enough sea witch in my opinion. Still good overall, I just want more.

Pointless details and characters included, it jumps around so much that the story development and cohesiveness suffers

For The Little Mermaid being my favorite Disney movie, I was very excited to dive into Ursula’s history to discover what made her a villain.

Reading this book made me feel like I was basically reading the story of The Little Mermaid with a small glimpse of her history. The story deviated speaking of the odd sisters and the Dark Fairy (Maleficent). I was not a fan of how much they focused on the Dark Fairy in this book. YES, her story is next in the series but I wanted to learn about Ursula.
It definitely dragged and I forced myself to complete the book in hopes I would get my questions on Ursula’s past answered.

Ask and you shall receive?! Eh, Not too much tho.

Minimal information in the final chapters quenched my thirst for information on her past but it sufficed to bring the book to a 2 start rating.

Still read this book if you are reading the series because I’m sure all information in each book is relevant to the entire story. If not they would be stand alone books. Maybe it will all make sense later in the series and unanswered questions will no longer pester my mind.

Some of my problems with this were self-inflicted. Reading an ebook on my phone is never a great choice, and I started with this third book in the series instead of reading from the beginning. There are a fair amount of characters added to tie together disparate fairy tales, and I found myself wishing I'd read the first two books.

My favorite part by far was the neat dovetailing of the story with the Disney movie. Also on the positive side: the cat, and the awkward explanations for Ariel's bad decisions. I struggled with the writing style.

Actually this book is 3.5/4 whyyyyyy, because I expected more story of Ursula then the sisters and Circe.

There is a secret at play that helps push the villains to be who they are.
