this was so much fun! i feel like this one had a lot more going on than the previous 2 and i really enjoyed how it was all happening around the same time, if that makes sense. in the other ones, there would be this weird time jump mid book and it would be mentioned so nonchalantly, like, snow white’s getting married, no big deal! when she was literally just a small child a few moments ago haha. anyway there was so many different things occurring at the same time in this one, for a second, it was hard to keep up, but obviously it’s setting up for the next book in the series! ursula’s the first one i don’t feel that bad for LOL. she evil and that sucks, but yeah anyway i’m obsessed with these now

Thank you to @scholastic_au for sending me a copy for review. This was a fun, quick read that looks at the story we all know from Ursula's POV. The story follows Ursula as she is asked for help by the Odd Sisters who promise to help her destroy King Triton as payment for helping them find her sisters. We get to read about more of Ursula's back story and the things that led up to her wanting to destroy King Triton and take back the underwater kingdom. We also learn about another witch who has a part to play in it all as well, i am quite intrigued by her character. Overall a good read that lovers of Disney and The Little Mermaid will love.

I didn't know the reading order when I checked out this book. The back story of the other characters is what kept me going.
Most of Ursula story was rehashed from the cartoon. I would've liked to have knon more about her past.

Nothing amazing but a fun, quick read with an interesting development of a well-known character.

For Poor Unfortunate Soul, I think it can be better. Again, Ursula was born with tentacle instead of fin like her brother. Because of the different appearance, her brother purposely lost her during child because he did not like her and refused to share the power with her. She was raised by adopted human father and growing up with human appearance. She felt something is missing in her life. One day she discovered her original form and the villagers try to kill her. Her adopted father died protecting her. Since that she grew hate towards human and his brother. She try to trick her niece which is Ariel to get back to her brother. Her power and hatred leads her to her end.

each book in this series gets slightly better each time ...honestly it's probably not quite a 4 star read but it was better than the last one that i gave 3.5

I am putting the spoiler alert on this, even though I won't give the story away I will give specific small examples to show why this book wasn't what it could have been. I was disappointed, but it could be that I expected more than I received. The book is too quick a read to have things repeated multiple times as if the reader forgot what she read 15 minutes ago. Then there were irritating choices: naming the person who handled the lighthouse Fresnel (please! The actual name for the most common stagelight) and describing Ursula's lair with "it glowed with an eerie putrescene" (knew the word from watching The Princess Bride as a kid...and it doesn't fit..."it glowed with an eerie decay or rot". A better word could have been chosen...maybe "aura" ) Oh! And as much as I love the song, did she have to write out the whole thing in a chapter called "Poor Unfortunate Souls" in a book tilted the same thing? Of course singing it to myself was much more enjoyable than reading this book. Ursula is one of my favorite villians and I really wanted to like this book. I finished it because I kept hoping I would enjoy it. There were moments that held promise. I felt that so much was lost because the author had another agenda she wanted to fulfill (that goes with her other books in the series). Key elements to Ursula's story were brushed aside or quickly told when they should have been fleshed out. And Triton was shown in a light that didn't quite make sense. The cover is beautiful though.

This is the third book in the Disney villain series and I loved it. It’s been my favorite book in the series so far. The telling of this story is done differently than the first two, it combines multiple POV’s which I liked.
