I enjoyed with read however I found that the story could have been fleshed out a little more. We meet mia and xavier a homeless shelter in NYC. Mia has been homeless for years since the age of 13 following the disappearance of her mother. Xavier is super rich and carrying out community service at the shelter. He is instantly attracted to mia more out of curiosity while mia is freaked out by him. We see how their relationship evolves over this cold NYC winter in search of blue skies...  Xavier is a hard to like character towards the start i could not warm to him or his behaviour for that reason I almost gave up however I am glad I carried on with this unlikely love story.

This was a really well-written shortie. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I did think Xavier was a bit of an asshole.

There were a few things left hanging as well that could have been more fleshed out. Did she ever get her birth certificate? Who was she? How old was she? She could barely read...did she go back to school to get her GED?? What about his asshole family? I find it a bit hard to believe they didn't take issue with him marrying a homeless person!

This was another quick read for me. Rich, bad boy serving community service in a soup kitchen. Then, he meets a girl who could care less about his money, looks or charms. Mia (the girl) just wants her meal and a dry place to sleep. Female lead has a bit of a sad backstory. Xavier is intrigued by the little female who ignores him. Angry at first, for her indifference to him, and it annoys him to the point where he looks for her whenever he has to work a shift. I thought this was kind of like when a guy plays hard to get and the girl puts in more effort to be noticed by her crush. The "girl" of this scenario is Xavier, which I found a little funny. After much effort, Mia and Xavier finally grow closer together until they finally do the deed. For Mia, it's a dream come true. She gets to sleep on a nice, soft bed and gets her world rocked by a sexy guy who knows how to rock. ;) Overall, it was a good read.

I liked the story overall but it needed a lot more backstory especially since it seemed central to the plot.

Let me start by saying that, sometimes, it is nice to read a book that is what you were expecting. Not necessarily predictable, but what you were expecting.

This was one odf those books. I am a fan of Swerve books by St. Martins, as they tend to be the shorter and more erotic books, and this one did not disappoint.

I thought it was well written and well paced, which can be a challenge for the shorter books as they often either lose plot or characters in order to make up for the shorter length. In this case, I thought both were well-developed.

I liked Xavier and Mia, although at times, Xavier was a little difficult to relate to as he was definitely the somewhat unlikable spoiled, rich, playboy. But you get to know him, and what makes him tick, fairly quickly. Mia is a bit less developed, but still compelling, as a woman who has taken care of herself for so long that she is afraid to rely on someone else.

The story was compelling and their chemistry was intense, making this a great short read.

I had to DNF this book. I honestly couldn't even get to 30% in the story before I had to stop. I didn't like Xavier at all and couldn't connect with Mia at all. I really couldn't buy into a billionaire picking up a homeless woman at a shelter.

I've enjoyed books by Ms. Ashenden in the past and will read future books by her as well, I just didn't connect with this particular book or set of characters.
