It took me a little time to get into but boy did it have a hold on me when it did! It is a very slow burn romance so if you're not into that you won't enjoy this book but its got so much plot besides the romance which I also loved!! Can't wait for the next book

The first part felt a bit awkward and immensely rushed cause it was just so fast paced that loosing the hurricane war didn't had that much of an impact. The second part on the other hand was more slow paced which was unexpected. So all in all the pacing was throwing me off. Despite the pacing, the story was still really good and I also loved the characters and I am excited for the next one. (Potentially a 5 ⭐ read)

I made it 25 pages and had no clue what names were supposed to be people or places, what the hell was going on, or how to even pronounce anything

I think this book got better towards the end....but still....it was so confusing for so long. I think the author needed to explain things more throughout the novel!!! sue me!!!

DNF’d at page 140. This book is incredibly slow, lacking plot and basic forward motion. Where are the side characters, why do I feel 0 connection to either main character? I just simply did not feel any pull or emotional connection to want to continue reading this book. It would probably be a waste of my time.

i rarely read fantasy, so i don't know if this felt super slow with minimal character development for me, or if this is the norm in fantasy? it was also a little frustrating that it felt like this story was built to be a trilogy, and there's so much left unsaid between alaric and talasyn for the whole book because there are 2 more to go.
