A book I read to my students each and every year- you can hear a pin drop in the room each time I read it. A great message and lesson on how students can help one another even at a young age.
This is a sweet story that might gently introduce the topic of hunger to young children. It's the story of two best friends, one who lives with an empty fridge and one who decides to do something brave to help her friend.
Excellent book and important look at childhood hunger. Highly recommended for kindergarten and up.

I subscribe to Flashlight Press’ newsletter. Today I got one and it showcased an appearance of one of their books (clue: this one!) on StoryLine Online, read by Jennifer Garner (who I love - I’m rewatching Alias ATM). I was having lunch when I saw it and I watched it right away.
What a lovely story about the power of friendship and the existence of hunger in our modern day western life and what we can do about it.
The production of this story was top-notch. Jennifer Garner did a lovely job bringing it to life and they even animated it a bit and added sound effects, so it’s quite engaging, especially for kids.

This was a cute little story about a very large issue. Actually, two issues. Keeping your promises, and helping friends in need.
