The story is very light yet touching. A teenage love story mixed with family dynamics. I quite enjoyed it; I could feel the sweetness of gelato while reading this book. It makes me want to fly to Italy and fall in love, haha. I think this book is suitable for teenagers.

Although the book is quite good, there are still some shortcomings. I'm not particularly fond of the jumping-around writing style and the forced coincidences. But overall, it's a so-so book.

"Turns out there's a reason they call it falling in love, because when it happens--really happens--that's exactly how it feels. There's no doing or trying, you just let go and hope someone's going to be there to catch you."

This is by far one of the best books that I've read all year. It wasn't my absolute everything, but it gave me so many feels, good and bad, and it's kinda sad to admit that I haven't felt that all that much while reading this year. I mean, I've only given one book a 5 star, and it's already August! Anyways, I'm really happy at how much I was surprised by the story that unfolded. I was honestly not expecting too much from this (as you can tell by my earlier statement, my reading year has been rough), but this book made me cry, while also giving me butterflies, and I couldn't be happier for it. It felt like reading a combination of Mamma Mia, due to the whole reading-your-mom's-journal-and-learning-about-your-dad thing, and Anna and the French Kiss, because of the sweet romance set in a country that's foreign to our MC (and the delicious food!). This was just sooo sweet, and at times heartbreaking, and I just want every romcom fan to give it a go.

HOWARD MY BELOVED, that’s all. cute romance and even cuter romance with the mc’s mother. i was honestly more invested in the flashbacks than the actual story but it was a great read nonetheless

read this book in about five hours, truly couldn’t put it down. I did read love & luck first (by mistake) so I had an idea of how things might end for lina in this book.
