The main relationship was borderline abusive. He was demeaning her feelings the whole book, she would hit him when angry. And any argument they had would end in them hate screwing each other. There was no resolution to their issues and no communication. The MFC was supposed to be this independent, strong woman that leads her kingdom equally with the MMC. She ends up coming across as a pick me that needs saved at every turn. Also, the MMC loves to make decisions for her without talking to her about it, not very equal ruling. Moral of this review: They are both toxic and it doesn't even fall under 'morally grey', they're straight up not good people. If you want to read a book with an unhealthy relationship and very little plot, then this is the book for you.

I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first. I think where it falls apart for me was the reveal of the traitor (because I didnt like who it ended up being) and how the end feels kind of rushed. There’s all these revelations about everything and then it just kind of…ends😅 It felt like there was more to the story even though it’s marketed as a duology.
Still, I did enjoy my time with this series—I will be reading more of Scarlett St. Clair’s works soon—and I will be reading the prequel novella when that comes out❤️

examples: sorin being a traitor, ana and ravena being the “bad girls” to take down adrian
-crazy how isolde turned into an aufhocker and vampire!!!
-isolde’s a shitshow but you can’t really blame her based on everything that’s happened; i feel for her
-dis is a big fat bitch
-seems like the only thing adrian and isolde do is fuck
-excited to see what happens in the next book!!
