It's hard to imagine going through something like this and coming out on the other side in a way that isn't shattered. But I thought it was interesting how he talked about rebuilding his reality, his happiness, after the attack. I didn't find any grand statements or epiphanies. Just a man trying to come to terms with the blows that life dealt him and how to continue living his life. He doesn't ask you to agree or disagree, but, I think, to simply listen to his thoughts.

Listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Rushdie himself, which i think adds to the experience. There are some interesting thoughts in this book. But the part where he writes fanfic about what would happen if he interrogated his assailant, was odd.
