I mean publikuoti komiksą reguliariai 20 metų yra labai įspūdinga!

An absolute favorite. All of the characters are so engaging, and it's a pleasure to follow their adventures over more than twenty years. A book that feels specific and yet big, combining daily life and the events of the world, humor and pathos. There are so many wonderful little moments here.

I love [b:Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic|26135825|Fun Home A Family Tragicomic|Alison Bechdel|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1440097020l/26135825._SY75_.jpg|911368] with a deep, deep love. Because of that, I have been meaning for years to go back and read Allison Bechdel's long-running comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For.

A few thoughts after finishing:

1. The strip itself is more radical and frank than I had expected. You know how a lot of '90s and '00s mainstream pop culture portrayed queer people as basically sexless? Like yes, they're gay, but there's no kissing or visible attraction--no actual sexuality in that portrayal? That is not the case here. There is sex, dating, relationships, all of the above. This is probably a reflection of the intended audience and publication venue--often in alternative papers rather than on, say, NBC.
2. Maybe this is obvious, but the lesbian/counterculture community (in this strip, at least) was way ahead on progressive issues. Bechdel addresses intersectionality, disability, representation, TERFs, and more... 20 years before I started hearing those conversations in my more moderate circles.
3. The characters age, and they're flawed, and they become a sprawling web of entanglements and relationships. I love that.
4. These strips are DENSE. Over time, each comic packs in more and more frames and dialogue (with fewer jokes), so that it starts to feel like a project to read them all back to back. One a week (as they were published) would have been a good way to consume these.

Overall, I didn't love these in the same way I loved Fun Home, but I'm glad to round out my sense of Bechdel's work. Probably 3 stars' worth of enjoyment, with a bonus star for their historical/cultural importance.
