The summer girl features Tate and Cassie. While books 1 and 2 (Evan and Cooper’s books) were filled with angst and more serious life vibes, I appreciated the easy and fresh story between Cassie and Tate more. Cassie is in town for the summer to visit her grandmother and be a small part of the Beacons grand opening, a hotel previously owned by her grandparents. Cassie meets Tate after accidently eavesdropping on his cringy breakup with a friend with benefits. She proposes he be her summer fling and while he resists at first he can't stay away and soon the fling turns into more. Their banter and quick wit was fun and breezy! No Elle Kennedy book is complete without a crazy parent or shocking twist and this one had both!

all the books in this series were quick easy reads with fun characters that interweave throughout the series. These books don't take themselves too seriously and are a perfect beach or vacation read as you can shut off your brain and observe these people's problems and not worry about yours.

This was the last installment of the Avalon Bay series by Elle Kennedy that I read. I was briefly disheartened that I wouldn't enjoy this book as much as the first two installments, because I'd already read about four of the prominent/main characters of the other two books. Who did that leave to share a story about?

This book read differently, which seemed natural given my initial thoughts. It turned out to be a great story about a friend in the townie group that befriends and outsider. There's a lot of fun and coming of age for these two characters. Kennedy's books may have twenty-something characters, but they think and act from perspectives most people have been though even if the landscape is different.

I like how her books have similar patterns, but each story has distinct characteristics, that don't allow for the same story twice. There's always a happy ending. There are sexy scenes with a tenacious anticipation. This book was youthful and enticing.
