Tate just might be my favorite person in the whole series lol. This was a good time, Tate and Cassie were cute I really liked their banter. Overall, the Avalon Bay series was pretty good, I wouldn’t mind reading more from this author
I received this digital ARC from NetGalley for free for an honest review.
Sometimes Elle Kennedy is good for a quick, satisfying, steamy read. This book didn’t quite do it for me. It just seemed a bit juvenile, and although the characters are young, they also just read as a bit silly and superficial. There is a beach town, so if you’re looking for a summer beach vibe, this might work for you. Just know that the main love interest is constantly talking about the girl’s “rack.” I wanted to like this book more than I ended up liking it.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for giving me access to an e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Anything by Elle Kennedy is a must read for me, and I must say she is one of the top romance authors in the genre for me.
The Summer Girl is the third book in Kennedy’s ‘Avalon Bay’ series and I have love every single book in this series. This book focuses on Tate and Cassie, where you recognise Tate from being one of the background characters in the other books in the series. The loveable player, that doesn’t want to catch feelings. And then you have Cassie, looking for a summer fling before she goes back to college.
This book is an amazing summer read! It’s a lighthearted and whimsical story, but also covers some darker themes like manipulative and narcissistic parents. It’s balanced well though, with moments of sincerity and depth, and then moments where you end up laughing out loud. I loved the slow build romance in this book, with the attraction starting right away, but with the tension building as they slowly realise their actual feelings for each other behind the fling. Also the spice in this… it may not be super present throughout it all but my god was it good.
If you’re in the mood for an easy to read summer romance then this is the book for you! I could not put it down and cannot wait for the next in this series.

I loved this series and I’ve loved this book. Cassie is such a relatable character and the banter was so fun. I loved when the MC is a reformed player and falls in love. Love love

This as super cute, and a bit steamy. The perfect summer romance for the beach.

This book was an utter surprise and reads like an aged-up version of Outer Banks. What starts off as a fun, pretty standard beach read had an absolutely shocking twist at 80%. This story touches on a lot of heavy topics (divorce, miscarriage, infidelity, parental abuse) but successfully manages to keep the overall story upbeat and light with a sweet romance you can’t help but root for. Team Ginger-Gate all the way!
My one critique is that the mom’s characterization is a bit flat and predictable.
Having not read the previous books in this series, this book held up really well as a standalone, and I didn't feel confused at any point. However, after finishing it, I now want to go back and read the other books in the Avalon Bay series. Thanks, NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
