You can't read this until you've read the stories and books that lead up to this. Start with Connie Willis story "Fire Watch", which will introduce to to the time-traveling historians of future University of Oxford. Then set aside a block of time for the wonderfully long novel "The Doomsday Book".

The books in this series have all won Hugo awards, the first time that all books in a series have won. Two of the books were also Nebula award winners.

While I wanted to like this as much as Oxford Time Travel, #1 I did not. That being said this was still entertaining & makes you contemplate what COULD one do with the power of time travel?!

I was worried I wouldn't like this when I started it as it's the pick of the book club I just joined, but I enjoyed it immensely. The characters were humorous and annoying and engaging, and the setting was well described. I loved Willis's tendency to play around with quotes and kept trying to remember the proper phrasing and what the play on words meant for the scene. I'm definitely going to have to try Willis's other books.
