Fantastisk roman. En del lånte ting fra andre store fantasy værker, men den er stadigvæk sin egen, og den er spækket med action og bare en virkelig fed historie. Nu venter jeg bare på næste bind.

3.5 stars. This took a while to get into, partly because of the narrator's (male) female voices. However, I ended up really enjoying the story and plan to read the other books planned in the series. It is a fun mix of boy scouts and magic.

Awesome fantasy story, with eerie shifts between the reality we know and that ... those ... other ones.
Also, the description of a nice, sensitive, somewhat overcautious, and very obediant boy, is beautiful and convincing. I loved getting to know him and also loved what I suppose is the beginning of his change.
YM&WCA must be a disappointment for the poor kid, who reads this and goes straight to the local department to get themselves in on the action. No magic beetles? No thunderclap? :'(

It's a case of "It's not you, it's me...but kinda you"

I was bored most of the time. Every now and then, there was a fantastical element that piqued my interest but it had barely any impact on the story.
I didn't connect with the characters and couldn't care less about all the ranger stuff (how to orientate yourself with compass or how to tie differents knots).

Really enjoyed this book! Kind of a mix between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, both series that I love! Would definitely recommend to students who like either one! Also had its own twists. Loved the themes of bravery, confidence and kindness.

My boys and I listened to the audio version of this book. My boys are 13 and 11. We all really enjoyed it, especially my 11 year old.

The narrator was great and the story moved along quickly. We will be starting the next book soon.

This was a fun middle grade book. It had GREAT discussion questions at the end. The themes of teamwork, friendship, and being true to oneself were strong. Magical creatures, new friends, and navigating weird family dynamics with kindness. What’s not to like? It isn’t as well done as some others in the genre, but I still really enjoyed it.
