4.5- wow this was a heavy hitter, I feel like I went to high school with all of these characters myself. Hearing their stories and the humor integrated throughout them was really enjoyable although the humor is, of course, quite dark and inappropriate but what else could you expect from King? Out of Carrie, ‘Salem’s lot, and The Shining… Rage is my favorite so far.
King himself let this book fall out of print because of the school shootings, but I don't think that was the only reason he did not print the book again. Though the idea is entertaining, I do not like this book that much. Some say that the writing is not that good in this book, but for me, it was good.
“There must be a line in all of us, a very clear one, just like the light that divides the light side of a planet from the dark. I think they call that line the terminator. That’s a very good word for it. Because at one moment I was freaking out, and at the next I was as cool as a cucumber.”
"It has been conclusively proved that there is no gravity; the earth just sucks."
A heart-racing read, at least at this point in my lifetime.

Not sure what to think of this one. For such a short book, the pacing was so sluggish. I had a hard time getting through it. The ending completely disturbed me though. Ted was the only relatable character, really. The reactions of the rest of the classmates were not believable. Who acts so casually after witnessing murder, or worse, cheers it?
This is the first Stephen King book I've ever hated. I love his novels and short stories. I'm working on reading his entire collection and chose to read this as it was one of his few shorter books. I didn't care for the characters or any of the plot. I'm so glad I'm finished with it and can cross it off the list. I found it extremely boring and overall ridiculous.

Hardly King's worst, as some people have said. I get why King wants it out of print, but I thought the subject matter was ahead of its time, and don't necessarily buy that it would breed copycats. Dialogue is a little clunky/stale, but it's a pulp book from the 1970s, so what do you expect? I kept itching to know what would happen next.
