I love Beowulf but this wasn’t my favorite translation. It’s a bit too academic for my taste. Not bad but not as enjoyable or entertaining either.

I greatly admire the knowledge needed to adapt Old English poetry into colloquial verbiage, but there was just too much cursing. For me, that detracted heavily from the pros of this translation.
