informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

It's a helpful and pithy little advice book on healthy eating. It's generalized but cites some of the work he's done on health and the food industry.

My only quibble is that he often refers to adagesfrom "our grandmothers," (like "better to go to waist than to waist"and "leaving the table a little bit hungry") which isn't something my black American self heard. The advice in our house was more "Clean your plate" and "I didn't cook/buy all this food for you NOT to eat." I liked it better when he straight up said which culture the saying was from (German, French, Indian, Chinese) and gave some context for the saying instead of that folksy, fictive kin he'd reference.

Advice on 10 inch dinner plates and "no snacks, no seconds, no sweets -- except on days that begin with the letter S" are more helpful and easy to remember. So, it's one sitting read that you can easily apply to your life.

Simple and effective guidelines for eating better without fostering obsessive ideals. Great, short read.

Very informative. It seems to be easy to remember rules, very basic and things I have heard said before but with explanations and backup information.

Really simple and easy rule sto live by. A few I already do live by and a few that opened my mind a little more.

This is the second book Ive said the same thing about: nothing revelatory, but certainly a good reminder about how life SHOULD be lived, vs how it currently is.

This book is great. It is just full of little tips, most of them common sense. However, it is amazing to me that the majority of people in America don't follow them. If we were to follow just a few simple rules, maybe the obesity levels would not be so high. Seems simple enough!

I have thought for some time that I ought to read Michael Pollan's book IN DEFENSE OF FOOD every year, just to keep myself motivated. Despite the great idea I haven't been successful with rereading it. This book was my solution. It is full of a lot of the great tips found in IN DEFENSE OF FOOD with some additional new ones. Michael Pollan's food rules are all logical. I just wish they were easier to follow!
