All very much common sense and easily agreed with. It surprised me how much my upbringing caused me to cringe at some of the advice - like to leave something on the plate (oh the starving children). I'm still not sure I'm entirely happy with that one. The ones that stick with me most are the easiest ones, of course. Have a glass of wine with your meals? Sure!
But generally, the advice is sensible and not too difficult to imagine. It's on the inspiring rather than discouraging end of the dietary advice spectrum.

Not much of this was news to me, but I agree almost 100% with everything Michael Pollen says. Also, Maira Kalman is awesome.
I'm a Pollan fan but even so, this book will leave you pondering. It has been a transformational book for me because he puts things in simple, easy to remember phrases. For example, "don't eat anything your great-grandma wouldn't recognize" and "eat food, not too much, mostly plants."
An excellent book to have on hand and live by. Simple, sound advice for how to eat. We all struggle with our food. We don’t eat fresh, we don’t eat about fresh, we eat too much of everything else. Eating is one thing that has the power to bring us together, and it really is true: you are what you eat. So do right by yourself! Grow your food if you can, with love, and most of all, prepare it with love. Your body will thank you.
This book is very, very short. And has some fun eating rules that are easy reminders like:
-if it came from a plant, it's good to eat; if it was made in a plant, it's not
&
-the whiter the bread, the sooner you'll be dead (morbid but funny)
-if it came from a plant, it's good to eat; if it was made in a plant, it's not
&

I listened to this audiobook to help ease my anxiety while getting a cavity filling (womp womp) and it was the perfect little “book” to listen to during that time! It’s very, very short (1 hour 20 min), more like an article than a book to be honest. It’s filled with 65 “rules” for eating, some I’ve heard before, but some new tidbits that will be helpful as I worke toward eating more healthily and happily. I honestly love anything Michael Pollan puts out!
Eat foods, mostly plants, not too much.
Some of my favorite rules:
- Avoid things with ingredients a preschooler can't pronounce
- Eat foods cooked by humans, not corporations/restaurants
- The whiter the bread, the sooner you'll be dead
- Eat all the junk food you want, so long as you cook it yourself
- Don't get your fuel where your car does

I actually re-read the first edition of "Food Rules," but only just realized that you are unable to track your reads the second time around (unless you use a different edition).

Simple, to the point, and easy to read. Definitely will be adopting some of the thoughts in here.
Everyone should read this- a whole lot of common sense that you just don't think about from day to busy day. Don't really care for the illustrated version- looking for the original to purchase and keep with my cookbooks!
