Fantastic. Pollan’s entire book can be summed up with the title of each part:
I. Eat food
II. Mostly plants
III. Not too much
This is a quick guide for shopping, cooking, and eating. He has written other books that delve into the agro-industrial complex: this is not that book. This is a compendium of excellent advice taken from different cultures, different folklores, different scientific investigations, all held succinctly together by common sense.

Short, sweet, and to the point. This book essentially takes the main points of his previous book, "In Defense of Food", and breaks it down into 64 simple rules to follow for healthy, happy eating. A handy tool for people looking to introduce change to their current eating habits.

I got this free with a magazine I subscribe to so I wasn't expecting much. Actually I thought it would be similar to [b:Skinny Bitch: A No-Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous!|196613|Skinny Bitch A No-Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous!|Rory Freedman|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1328817159s/196613.jpg|3378802] which I wasn't too impressed with. And this was the reason I read the intro and then left the book at the bottom of my reading list.
This turned out to be better. A very quick read it basically gave a guide to healthy eating using common sense rules that have been in our culture for thousands of years. It was not preachy the way other books I've read are and doesn't try and guilt the reader about their eating habits but uses cleaver and logical rules to re-educate and be enjoyable at the same time.
Would definitely read some of the authors other work.

A fast read that is entertaining and based on scientific research. The best part is that it admits when research is unclear in an area, and outlines the limits of our food knowledge. Most books push a single viewpoint strongly, and cite studies only to prove their premise.
This is a useful book with good tips, but having just read In Defense of Food, it was pretty much just a re-hash of the last part of that book. I'd recommend that one over this as it gives you a better look at the why behind his rules.

This was a really quick read. I enjoyed the rules and it really drove home to me that knowing what's going into my body is important. Also appreciate that the rules were not telling me I couldn't have sweets now and then.
