I enjoyed this one more than Nero. Except for King’s dumbassery at the end. I liked that they for the most part communicated and King was supportive of Savannah’s art. I perhaps would’ve liked him to meet her parents and for King to have known where that insecurity about her art comes from. He was also less dictating than Nero. Dogs are always a huge plus. I would’ve also liked to have seen Savannah and Payton hang out and become friends. Nero and Payton were in this quite a bit but there was only one scene where Savannah and Payton really talked. I felt the ‘bad guy’ came out of nowhere, there was not really any foreshadowing about the guy other than maybe brief sightings in the yard but that was never confirmed.

This has been a struggle to get through. I do not like the FMC at all. I'm sick of every FMC being a painter, like for the love of god give these women a real profession. I also thought it was unbelievably dumb that King decides to marry her. I had to rewind to make sure I didn't miss his reason why. Nope, there really is no reason he just decides that because she witnessed Leeland's murder, therefore he has to kidnap her, that he should just marry her for convenience. Women rave about this book but I'm not seeing it. It's just too dumb.
