Loved every bit. Suspenseful and even left me a bit cautious.
This book was gross and terrifying - which for some reason is one of the two genres I can get into right now. Stephen King Tweeted about this book (which is how I found it) and Nick Cutter paid homage to him in the acknowledgements, so it's really not a surprise that this reads and feels SO much like a King book (this is not a bad thing! Just an obvious comparison). This has everything anyone could want for a creepy thriller: scientists, government, isolation, adolescents vs. adults, questioning inherent evil and the forms it could take. More than once I was physically reacting to how gross and intense the scenes were, and I was surprised by more than one aspect of the ending (which was ultimately maybe a little anti-climactic?).
There is no way this won't find itself to some form of screen adaptation.

I really enjoyed this, in a very unenjoyable way. This book is freaking messed up and absolutely disgusting, but SO GOOD.
Out of all the disturbing things within this book, Shelley was by far the worst. What the heck man?! Whenever we were watching from his perspective I felt physically sick.
If you don't like gore, do not read this, the writing is VERY descriptive. Gore generally doesn't bother me at all but at points within this story was stomach was churning.
So good.

WHAT!! I asked for something scary and intense and man did this deliver.
The Troop was my first horror read of the year and I really wanted to find something that could gross me out. The number of times the word "ew" came from my mouth was too much to count.
Perfect read for a cold winter night.

I literally want to bathe in bleach, wrap myself in gladwrap, lock myself in an airtight box & never come into contact with ANYTHING ever again!
Turtles and kittens and tapeworms, oh my! This was disturbing, campy, and just all around fun. I probably could’ve read this in one sitting, but I had to savor it. Hiiighly recommend for horror fans that can appreciate tropes and good Cronenberg body horror.

Absolutely nail biting experience, it felt like I was right there alongside the troop going through the horrors. It tapped into a fear I had as a child and put it perfectly on paper. SO good.
