Wow. Okay, a lot of people have waited a very long time for this sequel. When Angelfall came out in 2011, it was a big hit and thousands of people loved it. It has more than fifteen thousand 5-star ratings on Goodreads. That says something. And all of those fans have been waiting for the sequel. I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of it for review and I’ll tell you this: It’s worth the wait!
Writing a sequel is hard if the first book was a really big success. It often fails to live up to the high expectations people have. So when you write a book as good as Angelfall and then reveal that the sequel won’t be out until late 2013, it better be worth it. And it is! It starts of almost immediately after the end of the first book and the action is there right away. I can’t tell you a lot about it without throwing in huge spoilers, so this review won’t be very long.
Susan’s writing is still amazing. She knows how to get you hooked to the story from the first sentence until the last. While I was reading this, I understood why she took so long to write this book. She wanted it to be the best it can be. And I love her for that because it’s great to read a book that’s as good, or even better, than the previous one in the series. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. I mean, holy shit. And I didn’t see any of them coming. Which makes this even more awesome.
Penryn is still an awesome character. She can kick serious ass and she can be really funny. Raffe is just… Well Raffe. They’re all pretty much just as awesome and fun as they were in the first book. And I liked the new characters as well. You can’t help but root for Penryn and it’s refreshing to have such a great heroine. One who doesn’t need saving and one who can kick your butt any time.
So if you were a fan of Angelfall, you definitely should read the sequel. It was worth the wait and it was worth reading on my cellphone (I couldn’t read it any other way, stupid kindle…), although I don’t think I’m doing that again. It hurts my eyes after a while. I will buy the paperback copy when it’s out so I can put it next to my copy of Angelfall. And I love this cover too. Just wanted to mention that.

This was sooooo good! I love Penryn and even though he wasn't in it as much as I would have hoped, RAFFE was perfect as always. The only reason this ain't getting five stars is because it took a bit to get going and it wasn't quite as action packed as the fort but it was still awesome! Book three here I come!

The sequel is just as strong as the first book.
There were a few moments where the plot's realism felt a bit off, but thanks to the overall vibe, the excitement of the story, and the awesome characters, those flaws were easy to overlook.
The heroes spend almost half the book apart, but when they finally meet — it's just wow!

The highest rating I can give for this book is 3.5. Honestly, I expected more from this. But still, I will read the third and the last book of this trilogy- The End of Days

I think the first book was great but in this book penryn and raffe didn’t see each other until the very end because he still thought she was dead. i just found it a bit boring. but when they had their moments together it was amazing and so good can’t wait to get the last book. also some scenes in this book was funny asf when she told raffe what the swords name was LOLLL
