I'm not going to deny that World After wasn't good, but its weakest point was the pacing. For the first two-thirds of the book, practically nothing happened. And then, in the last third, when, suddenly everything happened too quickly because Ee was dropping plot twists onto us before the book ended. However, I'm still excited for the next book. Hopefully the pacing won't be as unbalanced.

These are young adult stories. This particular one is especially gory and dark - something to keep in mind for this category (or those of you looking for something more upbeat and fun). I'd marked a point off for that, then put it back as I'm trying so hard to be generous to authors ;-) .

I thought this book was a bit slower going than Angelfall. It took me longer to get interested in the story, but once I was hooked, I was flying through. This was a good installment in the story, but I do have to admit that it was borderline "middle book syndrome" at times. Less happened than I would have expected to in a second book in a series, though more was learned overall than in the first one. I hope the last book really blows everything out of the park.

Well worth the wait, thank you. It didn't fail to live up to the promise of the first book.
I always want the second book to carry on the story and not labour over rehashing the scenes from the first book and this book delivered...except it did something weird and gave us Raffe's POV! Yes, it's true. We also get an insight into her sister's trauma. It was a little jarring at first but you quickly get used to it.
Raffe was missing for the first half - or at least, he wasn't physically present in her life. We had several views of him from a distance to keep us salivating, and boy, did I salivate. When he finally appeared it was almost magical...if a little bloody.
Dee-Dum were their normal naughty selves - if you can't have a little fun when the world is ending, when can you?
Mother - I have a theory that she is perfectly sane and everyone else is ignorant...then I smack my forehead and give myself a talking to.
Beliel - Yes!!! Go Prue! (read it if you want to know more)
I shall, of course, read it again next week!

things are getting pretty dark and creepy with these locusts....oh man.
Quick read. Bad angels, end of the human race with a few twist and turns.
TRE-MEN-DO FI-NAL.

Why in the world can't anyone keep Paige in their sights? That girl disappears faster than water down a drain. And then we are off again on the hunt for baby sister. But oh what fun there was in the hunt.
I spent most of the book speed reading, hoping that Penryn and Raffe would be reunited on the next page. It took a while for them to be on the same page together again, but when they were, oh joy!!! And I can't wait for the next book. Where in the world is Susan Ee going with that weirdo ending. I can't wait to see.
Grrrrrr...I've fallen unwittingly into the unpublished sequel trap. Double grrrrrrr.
