Super conflicted on this one. I think I found it more interesting than enjoyable. Esther was really unlikable which made it hard to sympathize with her, and because of her negative comments about life and pretty much everyone around her, her man-hating felt more rude than radically progressive. Writing/pacing felt disjointed at times and certain things felt completely random or abruptly discontinued. It was really interesting to learn about mental health and psychiatric treatment in the 1950s though, and I think this book is more valuable in that sense than any other. I think this would be really interesting to reread, and would either make me like it more or less.
