An incredibly well-written book. You can feel the dislocation that the character feels in all environments she finds herself in. Even though written for a past era the mental health aspects could easily resonate today.

Great prose, accurate depiction of depression . Had it not been racist, would have loved it. I understand the context of the time, but that doesn't mean I can ignore that it is racist.

The first time I read this book I was 12 years old.
Heh!
I read it with a morbid curiosity to try and understand my parent with bipolar disorder who was fascinated by Plath, her writings, and her multiple attempts to unalive herself. Not only were they fascinated but modeled their life after her. 
This time around I was captivated with Plath’s weaving of words. Nevertheless, I still don’t understand. Perhaps I never will.
