This book was the best in the After series so far. The toxicity of Tessa & Hardin's relationship wasn't as bad as in the previous books. I was pleasantly surprised.

i truly do not have words to describe how i feel about this book but i am going to try: i want to put it through a paper shredder and then down my garbage disposal. i thought maybe *just maybe* i wouldn't hate this one more than the others, and i naively thought that there's no way it could get worse but i was so wrong. the number of times i wanted to throw this book across the room and out my window was astronomical. i do not understand a single thing or plot point that happened in this book and absolutely none of it made me feel satisfactory, instead, i felt stressed and confused as to what went so drastically wrong in this supposed conclusion. i don't like to write long reviews but i needed to let off some steam in hopes of easing off the need to vomit.

After Ever Happy was unlike any of the books in the After series and I am thankful for that. It truly was a good book to read and it completed the series perfectly. This series was one emotional ride but I have no regrets making through it.

Of course I love Tessa and Hardin- I’m obsessed with them and their turbulent relationship and I’m used to the constant breaking up and getting back together. But this book was too much- they were hardly ever together - just hooking up and then not seeing each other again for weeks or months. There was some good plot twists and I LOVE Hardin’s character development in this book but what the hell is up with the constant time jumps near the end? There must’ve been like 7 or 8 time jumps.. it ruined the flow of the story and I would’ve preferred maybe one time jump where they’re married and she’s pregnant and I would be happy with knowing they were starting a life together- not just hearing little tidbits here and there from like 10 years in the future. Regardless I love them together lol
