It is difficult to finish a story as sweeping as the Arc of a Scythe. Shusterman does a good job implementing the science fiction version of ending with a new beginning.

I would have been content with a slow ending to match the slow and thoughtful beginning of the first book. It wasn't that I was displeased with the high octane ending, but I do wish Rowan had had the pleasure of vanquishing Goddard once and for all. Rowan felt a little underused in this book compared to the first two.

Shusterman has a talent for treating the deeply disturbing in a tasteful way, a talent I desperately hope carries over into the upcoming film adaptation.
