I really an starting to fall in love with this series. It is reminds me a lot of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. If you liked that series, you will like this one also. This series has demons instead of vampires (also no lesser, which are the worst part of BDB books). The demons cane take on life-mates just like in the BDB series and are extremely protective of their mates. There are also some interesting pairings in this series for mating. Also, each book is about a different pairing (Pleasure Unbound is about Eidolon, Desire Unchained about Shade, Passion Unleashed is about Wraith, etc.).

I did like this book better than [b:Pleasure Unbound|2679633|Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1)|Larissa Ione|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255913720s/2679633.jpg|2704935], not that I did not like it, I just like Shade better than Eidolon. I cannot wait to read about Wraith. I think I am going to like him also in [b:Passion Unleashed|4701550|Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3)|Larissa Ione|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1221676229s/4701550.jpg|4765865].

If the way this series is going continues, it's going to be one of those that gets better and better as we go in and know these characters. If we did not have the background we do on Shade from Pleasure Unbound, I could have easily put him in the evil, asshole demon column. He really pulled some giant asshole stunts and they are coming back to catch him now. It seems like his crimes just keep piling up. At first, I didn't consider the love curse that big of a deal, because I couldn't see Runa getting past his past. I was kind of surprised at how things turned around in the dungeon. If I was Runa, I would be taking a chunk out of Shade's ass. Especially now that's she's able to! When the bad guy pulls one over on them and mates them to each other, you just know it is going to go downhill from there.

I love each brother more every time we see him. The hits Shade takes to break down his walls against Runa, with that damn curse hanging over his head, frustrated me. Not just because of what his persistence did to him, but how he acted toward Runa in trying to keep that distance. He really let his asshole side show sometimes!

This book is full of surprises and just when you think you know something, you're whacked up side of the head. The bad guy was a huge surprise, and was really freaky. I am so scared I'm going to spoil, I don't know how to describe the resolution to his evil plans. Just know it was great!

Desire Unchained was really good. The world that is building and the story arc is coming together so nicely. We don't completely lose characters when the story is done and we even see the setup for the future stories. I can say, this story and the narrator, Hillary Huber, were perfectly matched. Hillary pulled me into the story so quickly and completely I didn't even have that initial period where I have to adjust to the voice. I was nervous about this since she did not narrate Pleasure Unbound, but I have no complaints about the change at all. It worked out great.

I'm getting sucked into the world of Underground General and I can't wait for Wraith's story!

I honestly didn't think I'd like this book going into it. But I am so glad that I was WRONG!

I loved it!

I loved Runa, and I loved that she was a bit feisty!

I really am having a blast in this fantasy world, and I like how a brief mention of a person or stranger in one book could be someone meaningful to the story in another!

Another incredible book of the Demonica series. Unlike Tayla and Eidolon of the first book, Shade and Runa are a lot more unbalanced, their emotions are all over the place and both of them are kind of searching for who they are. While sometimes I didn't like that since they hurt each other almost cruelly sometimes, they relationship had enough tender moments to make their love seem real. And in most occasions I loved how explosive they are together, that made for some really heated scenes and also a lot of snappy dialogue.

But...what about Gem?? :*{

"Son of a...He's a demon, Runa!"
"And I'm a werewolf. No one's perfect."

That that pretty much sums up it up. Cheers!

Ended up liking it a lot more than I initially thought I would. Once I got past the first half of the book it was great.

I really enjoyed her series and this one might have been my favorite. The demon hospital is an interesting setting and I think she provides a great range of different demons. There is just enough raunch to be naughty, but there is definitely a plot that readers can follow and be entertained with too. ;)

To be honest, this was easily a 3.5-star read, but I can't justify bumping up the Goodreads rating to 4 stars. It just wasn't a 4-star read, ya know?

I seem to have a weird relationship with Larissa Ione. Years ago I read one of her books and had a meh feeling about it. But every time one of her books crossed my path, I'd get a spark of interest. So I decided to start from the beginning to see how it goes with the entire series.

Overall, it hasn't been bad. Not my favorite paranormal romance series, but it's entertaining. And that's how I felt about this book, the second in the series, as well. I do believe that the synopsis promised something that the book never lived up to, but I still really enjoyed the ride, from UGH to the Seminus brothers (Wraith is fast becoming my favorite) to all the side characters. The sexy times are sexy and there's action.

So why don't I love this series? I just don't really know. I can say there were a few things that bothered me about this book, but nothing that would make me stop reading it. First of all, I think this book is a product of its time when it comes to always using rape as a threat against the female characters. It got to the point where I became desensitized to it. Why were the constant threats even necessary?

A second issue I had was that it seemed like Runa only became acceptable when she lost weight, gained muscle, and wasn't as sensitive. Honestly, I think it came down to the fact that the author didn't allow us to see Runa have that growth, and instead it came across as this version of Runa is better than the old one.

Finally, the villain was just so over the top and more a caricature than anything else. I mostly rolled my eyes at his ridiculousness.

BUT, as much as it may seem like I'm really griping, I'm not. I couldn't wait to get back to this book once I got off work. It was pretty non-stop the entire time and I think this go-round I may be enjoying this series a little more. More to the fact, I think it fills a hole in the PR world with its focus on Underworld General Hospital rather than a group of male vampires/werewolves/what-have-you chasing down the bad guys. So if you need a different take on the paranormal romance world, I'd definitely give the Demonica series a go.
