Book Review: Powerless by Elsie Silver
⭐️ 4 | 🌶️ 3
Alright, alright, alright—I get it. I understand the Elsie Silver hype. I am officially jumping into this series, and let me just say: I am excited to be a cowgirl 🤠. I also know this isn’t even a true cowboy romance, but I LOVED IT. I devoured this so quickly. I even went searching online for bonus material—and when I do that, you know I’m obsessed. I swooned, I sighed, and I fell in love with Jasper and the Eastons (primarily Harvey, who just might be my favorite character). That bonus chapter had me 🥹🥹🥹 (tell me we get more of them, pleaseeeeee).
I’m not usually one for friends-to-lovers, but this might have turned me. Jasper and Sloane’s slow burn was frustrating but sweet. You could instantly tell these two had loved each other for so long—it was just a matter of time before they woke up. Was it a little cheesy? Sure. But your girl loves cheese 🧀. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a simp man. The mutual pining was so good. Jasper had it bad, and the mouth this man had on him had me feral 🥵. I mean… come on, he told her to CRAWL. It’s always the quiet ones 😉.
What I really loved, though, was seeing Sloane develop her own voice. Saying what she wants. Standing up for herself. That dedication got me right in the feels, and it was nice to see it actually hold weight in the plot. That said, I did wish we got more resolution with her dad. It felt like she just walked away and that was it—which, to be fair, is realistic.
My only major complaint? I wanted MORE bonus chapters. The ending was satisfying, but I still needed more. Which means, of course, I’ll be continuing this series. Harvey, baby, I’m coming for you 🤠.
✨ You’ll like this one if…
🏒 Sports romance (if you squint)
👩❤️👨 Friends to lovers
🔥 Spice is niiiiccceee
🥹 Mutual pining
👰♀️ Jailbreak weddings
💕 Found family
Should this spill into your TBR?! Yes—please! I command you 😎.

Idk what Elsie Silver puts in her books to make them so binge worthy but this had me giggling and kicking my feet the entire time. I loved Jasper and Sloane

I knew this was gonna be a 5 star read at like the 35% mark. and that’s coming from someone who thought this would be her LEAST FAVORITE IN THE SERIES
boy was I wrong. I don’t even have words to describe this one. I laughed, I cried, I got chills, I gnawed on the ground like an animal
Elsie needs to be tried for witchcraft for what she’s doing with these books I swear it doesn’t make sense how good they are
Jasper Gervais, the man that you are….

Jasper Gervais, you are the definition of a good man 😭 I LOVED THIS! Elsie will always be my romance author of choice. This was beautiful and tender and so real, I genuinely enjoyed every single moment. Sloane was such an inspiring and beautiful character, with so much life and personality. I feel like Elsie truly deserves her flowers for the amount of love she puts into creating her FMCs! Powerless was everything I want in a romance book, love love love it!
I flew through this in less than 24 hours. I loved Jasper and Sloane – it was so clear they were meant to be together. I did get a bit frustrated at times with them both and, again, the spicy scenes weren’t really needed in my opinion, but overall, another fantastic read in this series.
