Honestly did not want to read/listen to this book. I wanted winter or beau’s book next, but I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style was unexpected but did a really good job of conveying grief in real time, how there can be bright spots, and how it can weigh on you. It was two people making the best of shitty situations and it felt realistic. The third act break up always frustrates me, but I was annoyed in this book because once again the whole issue is that they don’t communicate. I didn’t understand sloane’s crash out in the car, but after boozy brunch I actually thought she was so valid. This is all to say that I enjoyed the book and as usual the ending was extremely rushed and annoyed me but it was funny all the way through.

Ur lying this is 4.50/5 stars. Idk what y’all are on thinking that this is the worst book of the series. This is by far my favorite (maybe bc I love hockey romances lol). I genuinely believe that Sloane and Jasper are soul mates. Their pace once they were together made sense and sure there were some plot holes or things they could’ve gone more in depth about, like his trauma and Beau’s situation, or even more flashbacks to when they were younger and how they grew so close, but I think this was amazing. I love the mutual pining and obsession over decades and realizing every little small moment they had. They just truly trust each other with everything and we’re so emotionally vulnerable. I couldn’t stop reading. Their little blip at the end was lowkey stupid but didn’t deter my feelings about this book. I have pages upon pages of special moments I loved. And BOYYY was it spicy. Jasper got a dirty mouth and loves being in control like okay. They’re just perfect together I love them. Lowkey wish there was more Luke in there tho. I love seeing her fiesty moments and seeing Jasper evolve as a character and becoming genuinely happy

Jasper had a rough childhood and blames his little sisters death on himself. His family fell apart and he was homeless, then Beau Eaton brought him to the ranch and he became family. Sloane is the Eaton’s cousin and has been in love and entranced by Jasper since she first saw him at age ten (he was 15). They grew up being there for each other but drifted a tad in adult years. He’s one of the best NHL goalies and she’s a ballerina. She decided to finally get over him cuz she felt it was one sided so she was set to marry Sterling for a business deal with her slimy dad. After finding out he cheated the night before Jasper helps her runaway from the wedding and the rest is history. They continue to bond over feeling alone and scared and especially when Beau went MIA in the army. They finally get together and are just perfect.
