This book is not my typical genre or style but I found I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. At first, it was irritating to read 'goddam' every other sentence, but as I read along I realised that it was more of a reflection of the character's personality - his story is written in his manner of speech which was quite original.
The story kind of wandered for a while, and there was no pronounced storyline, but I kind of liked following Holden's life for a few days and getting to know more about him and his time.
I wouldn't have read this for pleasure or have chosen it, but I thought it was good for a 'High School English Class' book/Classic and worth a read.
Content: The story touched upon heavier themes but nothing serious happened

Spoiler
I thought his relationship with Jane was sweet and I was disappointed that he never ended up calling her, but I guess he will have the time to. I like how he planned to turn himself around but part of me still thought it would be cool if he ran away and started a simple life.I wouldn't have read this for pleasure or have chosen it, but I thought it was good for a 'High School English Class' book/Classic and worth a read.

I've got mixed feelings on this one. While I really liked most of the book, sometimes I would feel a little tired of Holden's ramblings. I'll have to re-read this one sometime to get better impressions.

I came in with high expectations which led to some disappointment as I read this book for the first time. I think I definitely started liking it more during the last few chapters and after finishing. It’s young, immature, and quite obnoxious while also being incredibly human. Upon reflection, at least part of my annoyance with the main character was just me rejecting the pieces of myself that I feel I’ve out grown. A tale of loneliness and existential dread. I do think I would’ve enjoyed this much more had I read it as a teen instead.
