Ya know what. I really liked this one. Evan is HOT. And August was a real American woman. With only one spicy scene but lots of kissing I was left wanting more but I got it. I wish there was an epilogue because their love story was great. Fast read. Enjoyable. And a great London romance.

I first heard about this title last year when the cover was revealed and Romance Twitter was oohing and aahing over how gorgeous it was and the story does not disappoint. August is an uber-competent, modern heroine who works at her family's iron works company doing what appears to be M&A which is bad ass for the Gilded Age, and Evan is the second son who was always a disappointment to his father because he wasn't considered smart enough and never expected to inherit the dukedom but did because the brother he loved and admired died of a congenital heart condition.
August is the stereotypical headstrong American heiress who shocks the staid, established aristocrats with her brash and forthright ways. She has no desire to get married and does her best to thwart Evan every step of the way, until she doesn't. Meanwhile, after a bumpy start, Evan sees her for who she is and realizes that if he wants to have some semblance of a happy marriage, she needs to come around on her own. He's not afraid of her competence and welcomes her advice. He's honest with her and bares himself - there's a gorgeous scene when he cries in her arms because he's realized that he never grieved his brother (this makes it 2 books in a row where the hero openly cries and welcomes comfort, the first being Cletus in Marriage and Murder) and she comforts him and accepts him. The ending felt a little abrupt to me, but I otherwise loved it and am looking forward to Violet and Christian's HEA next.

I enjoyed this so much more than expected.
August was a super fun protagonist to follow! I loved seeing an American react to British Regency romance.
