From the point of view of America's daughter, Eadlyn, the fourth book in The Selection series turns the focus to familial relationships and what love truly means.

This was, like the others, a fun, fluffy, more well-developed title in the series. I felt like Cass got a little more serious about developing her characters this time and I appreciated it.

I think if I had read this when I read the first three almost 10 years ago, I would have liked it a lot more. Unfortunately, Eadlyn is very unlikable (we get it, nobody is as powerful as you), and I couldn't keep most of the boys straight either. Many situations and aspects of the world felt quite unrealistic. That being said, the cliffhanger ending took me by surprise, and it's a quick, readable book. I'll most likely pick up the last one in the series asap anyway.

So I read this book the week it came out and had several months to deal with the review. It was sitting drafted but not finished but I’m not really sure about my real feelings with this series.

I think America was awesome and Maxon was my first pick since book one. And yay I got my happily ever after, but is it really necessary to continue this? I don’t think so, especially after reading this book. The other three were not perfect, but the story was cute and I do love a good reality show, that got me hooked.

I hated Eadlyn, first: because of that awful name, second: she’s a bitch without a reason. For that matter the book started slow and I fought to keep reading, things got better after awhile, but it was too many people and some crazy names at random. I wish this series had stopped when things were good, because after this I’m not gonna lie it’s going to be DNF for sure.

No recordaba lo mucho que me gustaba el mundo de The Selection. En realidad me gustó mucho este libro, a diferencia de todos ustedes, yo jamás encontré a America insoportable y Eadlyn me cae bien.

Disclaimer: I finished both The Heir and The Crown and may get some of the plot lines confused.

I would give The Heir three stars in the beginning and two stars by the end. I think it would be fair to give it a two and a half star review but I always round up (see Never Let Me Go...).

I loved the Selection Trilogy and found it entertaining! I loved the rebellion aspects and the feminine aspects and the cattiness and female friendship that came from the selection. This book and its sequel did not have that. I would have rather read this book about Eadlyn's selection from different characters' perspectives. It was monotone as Eadlyn had almost the same bitter, sarcastic reaction to the selection and most characters. I did like that Eadlyn had her flaws but these flaws were acknowledged. It was good to allow these flaws to be developed and make her growth into queen part of the story.

My biggest complaint with this book was it was predictable. I had read maybe 1/2 or 2/3 of the book and I knew she was going to marry Erik. Having correctly guessed her husband and with few other plot lines creating interest (Marid and the caste felt line a gimme plot line to extend the books), I was tempted to not even finish the book.

If you like conclusions, I recommend this book for fans of The Selection trilogy. On another note, I highly recommend The Selection trilogy because it was refreshing, had multiple plot lines that drew you into the story, and America is the imperfect girl that we all root for and wish we could be!

Prima boek.
