I had high hopes for this book given the premise but I quickly found myself getting tired of all the characters and writing. The extreme stereotypes of the diverse characters made it feel like the diversity was forced, rather than the diversity just existing in the universe. I also got a bit tired about the sheriff election side plot that felt more like the main plot. It felt like the mystery being solved was a side quest with half the book focusing on the election process and drama surrounding it. Overall, this book was a bit disappointing considering how unlikeable the characters and plot was.
