So we read Magnolia Parks and I was floored with the ending.
Now we’re reading Daisy Haites.
I’m floored by the ending. Again.
What would you do if the man you like is in love with someone else?
So this book is looking at Daisy, Christian and Julian. Daisy and Julian are siblings connected with the criminal world. Christian, who we met in Magnolia Parks book is part of the full box set and also has a thing with Daisy. This sort of a collision of worlds in terms of Julian is BJ’s friend, Christian is BJ’s friend and both are in love with Magnolia but Christian is sleeping with Daisy. Messy. You think?
Nah. It gets messier.
Who is in love with who? How to get a I break up? How to not break the rules? How to be alone.
I think I now understand why this book is so important, you get to see stuff from Christian’s side, sort of an all-around view understanding of what book one is about as they have overlapping moments.
As you read on into the book, you get to realize the toxicity runs through and through. It’s not as heavy as Magnolia Parks but it’s there. It’s messy. It’s the same you hurt me, I hurt you kind of toxic that I don’t like.
But I ate it up!!! It was tragic. It was beautiful.
I’m gonna be controversial and say as it is, I don’t like Daisy. I said it. After reading Christian’s POV I understood him and loved him. I like Julian, even as he goes off the rails.
So much happened in this book and the one thing that is point clear cut case is no one wants to take blame for their parts in it.
Lots of therapy needed for everyone in these books.
I’m looking forward to reading book 3 to see what happens next because there’s a lot going on and I want to reach the conclusion of this.

I much prefer these two to Magnolia and BJ. So much easier to read and am curious where it goes!
4.25 rounded down to 4 for goodreads.
I love that this was basically Magnolia Parks, but from a totally different perspective. I loved seeing Christian's interactions and his movivations behind things from his perspective in this book and the added layer of following Daisy. I loved this book, but not as much as Magnolia Parks. However, I did love the two main characters more. Daisy Haites is one of my favorite female characters in the Magnolia Parks universe. She is down to earth and completely different than bratty Magnolia. I also absolutely loved Christian so much more than BJ in every way possible. So, in theory, I should have liked this better right?
For some reason no. I think Magnolia Parks benefitted from having characters that weren't entirely likable and I bought the reason Magnolia and BJ weren't together more than the miscommunication between Daisy and Christian. I also wasn't a huge fan of having Julian's perspective in the book. I really just didn't care about his part in the book so I could have done without even though it was an important part of the plot.
All that being said, I still loved the book and think it's a great addition to the Magnolia Parks series.

Better than the first but still VERY annoying. And just all over the place. Very repetitive. But i have no choice but to finish the series
