Well damn. This was definitely a very different tone to Magnolia Parks. Not only do we get three instead of two perspectives but holy shit are the stakes higher. Not just relationship mess and drama but gang shit - stealing art and being investigated by the cops and beating people up and murder. And also all the relationship mess. So, overall, to say there was a lot going on is an understatement.
I honestly wasn't obsessed wth this at the start but there was a line that made me really Feel Emotions About These Characters.

"I have a little notebook in my drawer by my bed where I try to keep track of how many people my brother's killed so I can at least try to save that many and maybe that will balance everything out a little in the universe and we won't go to hell for everything we've done."
I was just floored. God I am glad I decided to start reading these books.

Daisy Haites delivered a more engaging experience for me. The addition of the crime family with Julien's POV brings a fresh layer of intrigue and action. It provided more of a balance with the emotional drama (although it still has lots of drama!), but it gives a little more to look forward to outside of the relationship drama between Daisy and Christian.

i was just so bored. i truly did not care about any of the characters, no matter how much “personality” the author was trying to inject in them. i did not care about the plot, which was literally just ‘character A like character B and won’t doing about bc they each also like character C and D.”
