This was an excellent debut with some interesting junk science and action. Scott Brick was also great with the audiobook narration.

This was the book that got me hooked on Grumley's books. This first novel is where Grumley really shows off his genius. What starts as a marine research story becomes something so much bigger and more incredible. The science feels real, the characters are compelling, and the discoveries will blow your mind. This is the book that made me a Grumley superfan!

One of the stupidest books I’ve read in a long time. And the dolphins weren’t even the most insane subplot! I am going to read the next one

Really really good!

Well written. Interesting. Exciting. I am very picky about books but this one kept my interest. Enough that I bought the series.

Easy to read but characters seemed pretty cliched; the misunderstood scientist, the action hero, the cynical politician etc. I found the science aspects not credible such as quick calculations to determine if one tsunami would counteract another, ignoring the fact that such phenomena must grow spherically from the point of initiation so they cannot just cancel one another out in the open ocean

Pretty ridiculous. I was intrigued at first, but then this book tried to be a little bit of everything - scifi, romance, thriller - so in the end, the writing felt very amateur. Don't get me wrong, this is probably the type of story I would end of writing, because I get loft with ideas and veer off easily. This was a freebie on Amazon, so in this instance, you get what you pay for:)

I thought Breakthrough was an overall solid book. There were a lot of moving parts in terms of characters/sub-plots, which made the book's plot feel like a clear stepping stone on it's way to a book series.

I appreciated the fact that the main protagonists were a capable female, and I also enjoyed the science-fiction elements that were subtle and believable.
