This was quite good. Speculative adventure like Clive Cussler. I thought Grumley's flows much better, was absorbing from start to finish.
This was okay. Not enough dolphins, too much military.
Some good ideas, kind of wish they had been run with a bit more. The ignorant opinionated jackass politician is sadly close to the truth, though sorry, there is no way he could have called for nukes the way he did. So, some unrealistic solutions/plot turns detracted from what could have been a much better story.
Almost done with this unputdownable book!! Already purchased Leap (Breakthrough Book 2).
Absolutely loved this book!! Page turning, unputdownable!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The characters were so believable and the plot was well thought out and written.
This book has two plot lines running through it and they do merge as the book continues. The first story line is about Allison and her team who work within an aquarium with Dolphins, where they are working on software which will enable them to communicate with the dolphins. This was really well done and I was fascinated by this part of the book. It would be amazing if we were actually able to talk with dolphins and other animals.
The second story line was to do with suspicious activity in the ocean. The US navy is involved, there is also something happening in the Antarctica with cracks appearing in one of the shelves. Why is all this happening?
The two sides of the stories come together when things become even more dramatic in the Antarctic and the Navy find out what is causing things to happen in the ocean.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the series and I recommend this book to anyone.

I really enjoyed this book! It's been quite awhile since an author that doesn't have the initials SK has grabbed me from page one and taken me on a great journey, but this one delivered! And then to find out that this is Michael Grumley's debut novel?? Sign me up for more!
The characters are believable, the story is (oddly enough) completely believable.
I'm finding it hard to say more without giving something away.
Just read it! It's great!

Mr. Grumley knows how to write characters, the three main story lines cross plenty of times so you don't forget their purpose, and there's just enough science fact to help the science fiction go down smoothly. The story does go a bit out there, but it does it in a way that I can hold onto and am fully-vested in the outcome. I will DEFINITELY be purchasing the next book ("Leap") as soon as I finish this one :)
This book had a lot of potential but it was carried out very poorly. There seemed to be too many sub-plots that did not get tied up in the end or did not make sense. The female characters are very superficial and poorly developed. The writing itself is confusing. The science involved is questionable at best. And the ending feels very underexplained...it's not even fully explained in the sequel. While the premise of communicating with dolphins, and even discovering extra-terrestrial life, is interesting, this book is overall NOT worth the read.
