I almost never read YA contemporary, so when I received this in my August owlcrate I was a little hesitant. BUT Kasie West sucked me into this story as soon as I started reading. I am so so glad I picked this up. It was light and funny and sweet and I devoured it. Also, this was my first Kasie West book and she didn't disappoint….. I will be picking up more of her work!

Well, this is just one of the cutest books ever.

I really sped through this book; I think it was the perfect, light hearted read that I was looking for after the emotional roller coaster that was It Ends With Us. It's a fun summer book, a fluffy novel if you will. Don't go in expecting a deep, resonating plot line because that's not West's style and that doesn't change with this one; in fact, the storyline is very predictable but it still makes you want to follow along with the characters. She does, however, has her once again spot-on family dynamics. I don't think that the protagonist and love interest are the most likable of her characters but they are still tolerable. It's fun and light, something to read if you're feeling down and need a little pick me up.

4.5/5 stars

This book contains my least favorite trope but it's done SO WELL and with just enough to counter balance it that I loved it?? Was not expecting that. I really REALLY REALLY liked this book for a lot of reasons. The characters were fantastic, especially the main character. I loved the romance in this book because it wasn't insta-love. It took a bit to develop and come about, and even then it still took a little longer. LOVE ME SOME (kind of) SLOW BURN. The whole plot and premise are so fun and really intriguing from the start, it's the perfect mix of a lot of different elements.
The things I didn't like were the pacing of the ending (everything seemed to move a little too fast) and I would've loved a *touch* more development for the side characters, though it's hard to do in a book this short. It's not to say that they weren't well developed, but I think it could've been done a little more.
Overall a SUPER fun contemporary that I really enjoyed and read in essentially one plane ride. I could NOT put it down!

When I first started this book I felt like I had maybe out grown Kasie West. The storyline was so cliched and predictable to be honest. It definitely took me a while to take any interest but after a while it grew on me. It was a cliched and predictable story but it was still an enjoyable one.

6.86/10 - CAWPILE score (rating scale via Book Roast)
Characters: 7/10
Atmosphere: 6/10
Writing: 7/10
Plot: 8/10
Intrigue: 7/10
Logic: 6/10
Enjoyment: 7/10

Pros: The characters had unique voices and they had their own interests, personalities, and distinct voices. It seems like it would be relatable for high school students. I enjoyed the writing, and I thought the plot itself was pretty strong. I also just personally love the idea of a romance budding between letters and I related to the excitement of waiting for the next response. I thought there was a good element of intrigue as she waited for the response and as she found out who was writing the letters. Overall, I enjoyed it, even if it wasn't my favorite.

Cons: It was very simple, and parts weren't very believable. I thought it was weird how Cade became more involved in Lily's life because he was her brother's soccer coach. I don't know how that coaching relationship worked, but as a teacher, you usually have a lot of boundaries when it comes to your students and your personal life. Also, I consider myself a music person, but for some reason the writing about music stuff fell flat for me, like it was just kind of thrown in there. There wasn't much of a wow factor with this book. I didn't have super expectations for a YA cutesy romance, and it definitely didn't exceed my expectations. It was just okay. I liked the note writing element, and I liked the romance, but it's not a stand-out by any means. I don't think I'd really recommend it. I would potentially try more of Kasie West's books though.

Quick Thoughts and Rating: 5 stars! So, the quick and short of it is this: Kasie West can do no wrong in my eyes and her books are golden! She's an auto-read/buy author for me, has been ever since the first contemp I read of hers. We have a very compatible writer-reader relationship, and I feel like when it comes to YA romance and characters, she's going to be a solid, dependable 5-star read every single time without fail. P.S. I Like You proved that theory even more. I hardcore adored this book. The couple was so damn adorable (even when they were at each other's throats) and that cuteness totally invaded my heart. I seriously feel punch-drunk giddy after every book of hers that I devour read!

Review: Okay, being perfectly honest here because that's how I roll, perhaps there isn't exactly anything new or refreshing about secretly exchanged notes turned love affair or hate-turned-love relationships, but I'm absolutely not kidding when I say that I believe Kasie West can rewrite the yellow pages and make those the cutest damn yellow pages you've ever read! She has a knack for taking even the oldest tropes (ones that I usually love, both are the case with this novel) and making them feel fun and exciting. So, the thing is, everything about the synopsis is pretty straight forward and I had pegged the "who" behind the letters pretty early on, but the build-up of the tension and watching it all unfold still made for a riveting read. I read this entirely in one sitting in a little less than four hours. (I had planned on only reading a bit before bed and ended up finishing it at about 2:30 in the morning. Then, I immediately reached for my phone so I could tweet my love for it directly to Kasie herself. Yes, it had to be done at 2:30AM. I regret nothing.) I don't want to ruin all the best bits of this novel for you, so I'll just say a few quick things and then you can be on your way to add it to your TBR and pre-order it ASAP. West writes amazing characters; they're real and relatable. I always connect so easily with them, want to champion them and insert myself as their bestie so I can inhale all the juicy gossip of their unfolding relationship as it's happening in real-time. (Don't look at me like that, I know they're fictional. But try telling that to my heart.) West also writes amazing snark and banter, and there's no denying that the banter in this was sensational. I gobbled up every interaction and laughed out loud quite a few times. But above all that, my heart squeezed with those angst-achey moments, fluttered away like crazy in those sweet times, and I just wanted to do snow angels in all the cute fluffy instances that made me smile so big my cheeks hurt. I feel like I say this every time I read Kasie West: I love her books! LOVE. Them. She's still firmly planted among my all-time favorite authors.

Teaser Quote: I couldn't highlight or tab anything because this wasn't my book, but there were so many quotable moments. I went for one part of the most memorable scene in the book for me. Le sigh.

I waited for him to continue, to finish. He didn't. I spoke up. "Here we are at a crossroads? That's how you ended it? All cryptic like that?"
He took a step forward. Even though there wasn't room to take that step. My legs hit a desk.
"I think there might've been a PS," he said.
I couldn't breathe again, only this time it had nothing to do with running. It had to do with his closeness and his voice, which had turned quiet, and his eyes that hadn't left mine since he arrived.
My voice had lowered too. "PS? We haven't written one of those before."
"It felt like it needed one."
     "It did need one."
"PS" He brushed a piece of hair off of my cheek. "I like you. A lot."
My breathing was shallow, my eyes starting to water from staring too long. "That's a great PS."
"For our first one, I thought it was solid."

It’s almost impossible to review [b:P.S. I Like You|25486998|P.S. I Like You|Kasie West|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442247987l/25486998._SX50_.jpg|45261093] without giving away plot points, and even though I pretty much figured out the mystery of who’s behind the secret messages in a matter of a few pages, suffice it to say; it doesn’t matter, because this book is just that endearing. I need more synonyms for cute, please.

Thank you, [a:Kasie West|5027236|Kasie West|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1450586450p2/5027236.jpg], for once again bringing such a wonderful story to life, I smiled a lot.

Cute. A little predictable but I still enjoyed it, especially since it was an easy listen to and from work.
