PS I like you è quel libro dolce e un po’ prevedibile che però ci piace tantissimo, perché ci aiuta a spezzare tra un mattone e l’altro. Mi piacciono le storie d’amore, lo sapete bene e quando ci è stata data la possibilità di leggere questo libro in anteprima per il blogtour a lui dedicato, non ho potuto dire di no.
PS I like you può assomigliare a tanti altri romance young adult che abbiamo letto nel corso degli anni, ma Kasie West ha un tipo di scrittura che rende anche i cliché più usati piacevoli. Il libro scorre e non è mai noioso, ti lascia immergere tra le pagine finché non arrivi alla fine senza praticamente essertene accorto. Vi dico solo che credo di averlo finito in due o tre viaggi in metro tra casa e lavoro e ci metto circa 45 minuti..fate voi i conti. Ammetto di aver dato qualche letta anche nelle pause in ufficio perché non riuscivo a staccarmi.
La trama l’avete letta sopra, quindi cerco di non raccontarvi niente di più. Ho amato Lily, un personaggio diverso dalle solite bamboline perfettine o dalle ragazze problematiche con passati turbolenti che incontriamo di solito nei romanzi YA.
Lily è una ragazza come tutte le altre, con pregi, difetti, paure. Va in crisi quando deve parlare con un ragazzo, si ritiene fuori posto in molte situazioni e non si separa mai dal suo quaderno, in cui custodisce idee per le canzoni che scrive, o meglio, vorrebbe scrivere.
La musica è un punto chiave di questo libro, ciò che unisce i due protagonisti. Lily durante le lezioni di chimica mi ricorda me, quasi sempre. Sono assolutamente incapace di stare ferma mentre ascolto qualcosa e a scuola, se non avevo un foglio a disposizione, era proprio il banco a diventare vittima dei miei disegnini e di citazioni a caso prese da libri, canzoni e serie tv. Nessuno mi ha mai risposto come a Lily, ma immagino sarebbe stato divertente. Da queste scritte sul banco inizia una fitta corrispondenza tra Lily e il misterioso ragazzo. Sono pochi gli indizi che ha per scoprire chi sia, ma alla fine la rivelazione avviene prima del previsto, scombinando totalmente le carte in tavola. Lily sa che piano piano si sta innamorando del ragazzo delle lettere, ma se con carta e penna le cose sembrano semplice, di persona è sempre tutto più complicato. Lily dovrà capire come superare alcuni pregiudizi e fidarsi di ciò che prova.
Ho adorato la storia, semplice ma allo stesso tempo con tanti piccoli punti di riflessione. Lily è una protagonista adorabile, leggerei volentieri altri libri su di lei. Oltre alla ragazza però, anche gli altri personaggi sono degni di nota. La famiglia di Lily è un concentrato di energia e positività, anche se un po’ eccentrica e l’amica di Lily è la migliore amica che tutti vorremmo.
Un libro che consiglio caldamente proprio per la sua semplicità e dolcezza, magari letto sotto l’ombrellone guardando il mare.

3.5 stars. When I started this book I really didn't like it but as I continued to read it got real cute and real addictive.
When I first discovered P.S. I Like You by Kasie West, I knew it would be a book that I wanted to read. All the books I've read by West so far have been great, and I knew this one would not disappoint as well. And, it didn't! P.S. I Like You is probably my most favorite read by West so far!
The main character in the story, Lily, is adorable. I love her love for music, and could definitely relate to her through that. Actually, I could actually relate to her in so many ways. She was great. I love her family as well. They are huge and wild and totally loving. She has the type of family that I LOVE to read about in stories. I guess because it reminds me so much of my little family.
I adore the storyline for the book. I had read a review before I started the story that said it reminded the reader of the movie You've Got Mail, which just so happens to be my most favorite movie ever, so I couldn't wait to read the book to see this for myself. And it did totally remind me of the movie! An anonymous penpal, who is easy to talk to, easy to relate to, and trying to figure out who it is. Ah, I totally fell in love with this story.
P.S. I Like You is the second audiobook that I've listened to by Kasie West in the past week, so yeah, you can totally say I'm hooked. I really enjoyed the narrator for the book, Shannon McManus, who also narrated The Fill-In Boyfriend. She did a great job with the different voices, and held my attention throughout the story. Excellent job!
Overall; I can't seem to say enough about how much I loved this book. SO good, and I'm definitely going to have to get a print version to add to my shelf soon. If you're a fan of fun contemporaries, definitely check out P.S. I Like You, and ALL the books by Kasie West!

I have to say I was quite disappointed because I wanted more. I wanted more of the family and friendship aspect. But I didn't hate this book. It was a cute quick read but I guess my expectations were a bit too high.
This is a book I will gush about! I loved everything about it and basically read it in one sitting!!
The characters are just so love able and believable and usually I end up getting irritated with characters when I watch them make dumb mistakes but to be honest, I never even got that frustrated with these characters!
The premise is sweet...Lily starts writing to someone in a different Chemistry class that sits in her same seat after learning they know the lyrics to an obscure band that she loves. I love the letter writing because in today’s world of technology it’s so great to watch someone communicate on a slower timeline and it feels much more personal. Of course, the writer ends up being someone that she has a hard time connecting what she knows of him from real life and what she knows of him from his letters.
I read somewhere this was roughly based on Pride and Prejudice (which is why I choose to read the book in the first place) and while I’m not sure if that’s true or not, I did see a lot of similarities and it was fun to make those connections but I liked that this story really was its own.
All in all, it’s a super sweet book with a great romance, good girl friendships, family interactions that are crazy but loving and just all around fun!
Recommend: 13 and up; no swearing; few sweet kisses and talk of kissing; one character has non involved parents but Lily’s are great if a bit eccentric!; good conversation starters around who we are really and what we let people see and what people assume based off what they see; conversations around forgiveness; confidence is something Lily has and yet lacks at the same time so fun to watch her grow with that

This was pretty cute and a quick read, even if I'm tired of the pull each other's pigtails because we really like each other thing. I think the author did a good job of developing their hatred into a friendship then into a romance. I liked that they talked and figured out their past miscommunications that led to their mutual antagonism. This helped with the believability of the hate to lovers aspect.
This is one of the more well written and fleshed out stories from this author. I’m not sure what it is about her stories that keep me reading more of her books. They’re just easy reads that don’t require much brainpower.

I couldn’t put it down. It was too cute and too good. I was surprised at how much I loved this book.. and the young adult romance genre. Can’t wait to pick up another one of her books!
