This book got better toward the end, but I could definitely tell it was one of Nora's earliest!

This two-story collection shows its age. While there are elements of classic Nora, especially in First Imlressions, these books were originally published in the early 80s, and parts of them have not aged well. Especially Blithe Images. While it pains me to say I did not care for a Nora book, I have to say it. Well, First Impressions wasn't too horrible, but there were times Blithe Images was almost difficult to get through. And each story only has a small part that takes place at Christmas, so marketing this as a Christmas romance doesn't seem accurate. I think there are plenty of other actual holiday romances you can read instead, and definitely plenty of Nora books that are much better you can read.

Nora Roberts has worked her magic again! And the best thing about this is the fact that although it was written in the 1980s, it really doesn't show.

This was a fun book. I liked how quick she was to laugh, I really did just love her personality. And while he had his points of macho, he was a good character as well. It was fun to see them fall in love.

I know that both of these stories are from the early 80's and they read like that.

First Impressions was a good story. It was sweet and a good read. The problem that I had was with Blithe Images and the way that it skirted around images of rape and sexual assault. He called her a tease when she won't have sex with him, became angry, and suggested that he wasn't above forcing the issue when it was something that he wanted. This is not romantic or fun. Love is not having a guy want you so much that he is willing to cross your boundaries to get what he wants. I am not a prude and enjoy all sort of romantic fiction from the tame to the very steamy but there is nothing fun about this old story that promotes dangerous images about sex and respect. I did not read the whole story because I couldn't stomach it but it is time for this story to be retired.

Head hopping, nothing is happening, boring

1980's romance from nora tends to lean on the cheesy side.

This book contains two shorter pieces by Roberts. Both are quick, fun reads.

I read Blithe Images first for some reason a couple of months ago and I don't remember if I liked it or not, but I thought First Impressions wasn't bad for 1984, so four stars seems good enough for me.
