UPDATED:

After reading this series Assasins Blade gets a 5 stars. I love all the world/character building done in the book, and you can definitely appreciate it later on in EoS/ToD/KoA. I do love that I read this book first because I hate knowing that an explanation for things is out there and not knowing it. If I didn't know about Sam but it just kept getting mentioned I would be kinda pissed (but that's just me).

The start of my Roman Empire series. Chefs kiss

Despite how much this book alone broke me, it makes me super anxious to read the rest of the Throne Of Glass series. Sarah J. Maas has so easily became one of my favorite authors simply because of this book. Her writing style is gorgeous, and every idea she spews out always ties up into some type of situation. I LOVE!!!

2.0 Lots of mixed feelings. The entire book was BEYOND boring. Disliked the main character so much. Found her so self-absorbed, no redeeming qualities and story was super predictable. Last 30 pages had me hooked, pumping up the rating from 1.5 to 2.5. If the entire book was written in that level of suspense rather than fluff I think I would have enjoyed it more. My only string of hope is that I hear this is the worst book of the series, so things can only go up?
