Favourite hero and heroine? Yes.
This is one of my favourite books. I said it - I SAID IT. Everything about it was perfect. I have never felt so satisfied and giddy at the end of a series. Well, sort of the end.
I would die for this book. I often feel the need to speed through books, regardless of whether I love it or not. This fell of that spectrum. It broke it. I wanted to read it all but I wanted it to never end.

ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. I WANT MORE.
ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. I WANT MORE.
If I could give this more stars I would. My only thing I didn’t like was that you found out who “the spy” was within the first 5 chapters. If you read the series in order you knew it was between two guys.
So much a can’t say because it ruins the surprises
The shock of it wore off and I loved learning more about them. Both MC were badass. I LOVED the back story of why the spy was a spy, going back 32 years to start.

The end of a series always wrecks me, especially when it has become one of my very favorites and The Kingmakers has. I love this world, the storylines, the couples, and the characters. Sophie Lark made them feel like family and I’m totally destroyed to leave them.
The Spy. I won’t spoil who he is but GOD he was everything I wanted him to be. Seeing the struggle with his secrets and seeing him develop into the man he was destined to be as a result of this epic love with the heroine was cosmic, predestined. I feel like I have to leave it there.
Nix was an interesting heroine, ethereal, nature incarnate. I loved how Sophie Lark described her character and the elemental nature that led to the couple’s connection. She was the perfect match for the hero of this book.
While their connection was strong, physically and emotionally, it all kind of happened pretty fast. I didn’t feel like these two fell for each other. It was just there and explosive. Believable but fast. I would have liked for there to be more of them and more build up for them as a couple, BUT there was a lot of plot and subplots to wrap up, which ultimately needed to take precedent.
This was a story, too. The suspense, the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together, all the characters we have loved having their roles, character cameos. It is just action packed and thrilling. I loved every single part of the plot, and the epilogue, I WAS DEAD. It was so perfect for this world readers have come to love so much. Even though, I feel like I could stay here forever and would gladly read a million more stories from this world, Sophie gave this world the send off it deserved.
Epicness. The Kingmakers was just epic, and the Spy brought it all full circle. This series. The characters. The story-telling. The romances that move mountains. This world has everything I love in a romance, and it will absolutely be one of my favorite series of 2021. I don’t know that I’ll ever move on from this world.

I love this series so much, of course, I wanted to find out who the spy was, and it was better than I expected. The Spy and Nix's story is amazing, sweet, and yet unique. This end to the wonderful and amazing series was perfect. You need to read them all and in order to have the whole experience!

I absolutely loved how this whole book unfolded and I’m so glad I read them all back to back. I immediately knew who the spy was but didn’t know his family history! It was so good!

What a satisfying end to an incredible series!!!
This history has so many layers, so many mysteries and clues that come together to make it a un-put-downable read. Everything is tied up, and it feels both inevitable and effortless.
No spoilers because its the kind of story, were you need to go in blind!
I find it to be incredibly difficult to world build a story like this without any info dumping, Sophie has that rare ability to make you inhabit the story in the most compelling way. She also moves forward plotlines and character development in a action packed pace. Every moment feels important, necessary and perfectly crafted. I also adore the small inclusions of folklore and language idioms, it makes characters feel more authentic and well rounded individuals.
Was the SPY who I thought it was? - YES
Was Miss Robin who I thought it was? - YES
Was the heroine's back story what I guessed? - YES
Was all of it PERFECT - HELL YES!
There are twist! There are turns! But it all comes from the right places, it all makes sense in a way that when you know, you can't un see. I adore that, because the plot twists are not made for shock value, they are there because they have been planned to happen all along, with careful attention to detail and insane imagination.
Also this book was crazy hot , and the chemistry between the hero and heroine was off the charts. I also appreciated how the hero ended up gravitating to a strong heroine, specially because as he mentioned it was what he was used to, he was used to being surrounded by that wild, strong female energy and damn were they perfect for each other, kindred souls that found their match, and isn't that what romance is all about?
I always adore a strong quiet hero, even though in this case, it was more a persona he needed to adopt that his true self. The family element and the discussions about where lines should be drawn between what we consider good and bad, and what is beyond those two, was AMAZING!
The only caveat that I have is that I would have liked for the hero and heroine to have more time together, but I understand that it was a sacrifice that needed to be made in order to get enough time to wrap other important and super interesting side stories.
At the end of this book, you are in love with everyone, and you are both extremely happy to have read it and extremely sad that is over.
All the stars and all the praise for the Kingmakers series!
Looking forward to a lot more from Sophie Lark.
