Absolutely amazing book. Took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I am so glad that I read this book. One hundred percent recommend this book it is phenomenal. The characters are well thought out and written. The story is wonderfully emotional. Perfect.

Can’t say I loved this one as much as Six of Crows (I have to admit I bad an attachment to the Ice Court heist), but it was still a lot of fun. There’s nothing I love more than Kaz’s plans unfolding and, honestly, any time spent with these characters is a gift. I’m so sad this duology is over, I would have liked at least five other books featuring the Crows in Ketterdam, showing others they "picked the wrong damn fight".

The problems with the first book (which was mostly just Matthias related) were all fixed in Crooked Kingdom! Matthias was a well rounded, interesting character with a personality in this one. His relationship with Nina made more sense and wasn't borderline emotionally abusive like in Six of Crows. (Note: they were borderline emotionally abusive to each other - it was bad both ways. I'm not pinning everything on him.)

We got chapters from Wylan's perspective, which was great! And we delved into everyone's backstories. Character wise, Crooked Kingdom was fantastic. Absolutely spot-on and delightful.

My main issue was Bardugo's suspension of information. While it worked in Six of Crows because at any given time Kaz, and only Kaz, knew what was going on, it felt like a parlor trick in Crooked Kingdom because it was the characters who were withholding information they knew from the narrative. While I understand it was to increase suspense and make chapter endings make you bite your nails to the quick, it felt off since readers were so far in the heads of the characters.

Overall, Crooked Kingdom was as fun and fast paced as Six of Crows. If you liked the first book, you'll like the second. Enjoy it and don't get hung up on the writing tricks like I did - I'm mostly being nitpicky here.
