I have been fortunate to visit Dublin, so it was fun to read a book set there. The premise of a girl dating a guy who is in prison for being a serial killer was a good hook to draw my attention to the book as well. I don’t usually care for mystery books about serial killers, but the twist with the girlfriend was enticing. This book was compelling, and I enjoyed the plot in trying to figure out who the copycat killer was. The story is told in both present day and in flashbacks to the time of the original killings which was done very well. Although I wasn’t completely fooled by a twist in the book, I still found it enjoyable.
This was SO good!!! I was drawn in right away. And I love that the readers had the appropriate accents (I’d give the book a 5 for that, just like Unraveling Oliver!!).

The book was well-written and interesting, but the ending left me feeling unsettled. Probably exactly what the author had planned, but still.
Listened to the audio book. Good narration, kind of figured out the twist but overall enjoyable.
4 clever, intriguing stars to The Liar’s Girl! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
The Liar’s Girl has an original premise. Will Hurley is a serial killer who has been placed in a psychiatric hospital instead of a prison. One of his victims was his college girlfriend’s best friend. A copycat murder occurs ten years later, while he’s in the hospital, and Will will only tell what he knows to that ex.
I found The Liar’s Girl addictive, engaging, and slowly building. No huge twists were thrown at me, but it managed to hold my interest throughout. The book is more centered around its characters than a quickly moving plot, and I liked that. Allison is a character to love, and Will is as creepy as they come.
Cutting myself off here because I don’t want to spill any beans. If you like your suspense with well-developed characters and a slower burn, The Liar’s Girl is just that.

Cathryn Ryan Howard has become an auto buy for me. With every book you know there is some big twist, and every time I haven’t been able to guess it. the plotting is perfectly paces and creative. If you like mystery/thrillers that are not police procedural , give CRH a try. You won’t be disappointed! 4.75/5
The story was pretty good, but the I was underwhelmed with the way it ended. I loved listening to the audiobook with the readers’ Irish accents though!
