I’m very conflicted about certain things I’m the book, but overall it was a decent read: intriguing, suspenseful, and coherent.
I'm a sucker for a great mystery, and this one had me firmly in it's grip. I love that the heroine was making generally smart decisions in the face of danger. I also love that the final twist was not a trope. I won't say more than that, but I will say that I enjoyed it.
Yet another woman-in-danger book. Dublin, 10 years ago, college freshman Alison dated Will who was then convicted of killing 5 college freshman (he confessed). Present day, a new set of college girls are being killed so police enlist Alison's help. As per usual with these kind of books, Alison is sort of a wimp who lets things happen to her, which makes it surprising when she actively helps police track down the actual killer, who was a total surprise to the reader. Will is exonerated and freed. Alison may or may not take up with the detective Malone, she may or may not go back to the Netherlands. Who knows? Author left it up in the air.
hugely disappointing. this should have thrilled me, but the story is trite, the characters wooden, and the writing unimpressive. sad.

It was okay. The killer was a random person that had nothing to do with the story so that was annoying, good book until then.

The Liar's Girl is a psychological thriller with a good amount of mystery. It's not as twisty and shocking as some thrillers, and I really appreciated that because it focused more on the characters and the mystery than on trying to shock.
The alternating timelines kept things interesting and kept me wanting to carry on with just one more chapter. The chapters from an alternative point of view also added intrigue. The audiobook narration was superb.
I found Alison quite frustrating at times, and definitely agreed with her mother's assessment that she had never grown up and moved on from the events in her past. Some of her actions and decisions were questionable.
The ending took things up another notch, which I really loved. I feel like I can always rely on Catherine Ryan Howard to deliver a great thriller.
