Disclosure: I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley, however all opinions are my own.

This book was an interesting ride.

Two women happen to cross paths at a motel turned apartment complex. They've both been through some things in their lives, and the both know a man who died. The same man.

The novel starts off strong, with the death of a character and a confession that will turn another character's life upside down. Seraphina does an excellent job of pulling you into her story immediately, and then weaving a web that keeps you hooked until the very end.

But the best part of the book? Definitely the insane cast of characters. There were so many fun side characters and I really feel like they made the story. As much as I wanted the main mystery to be solved, I also didn't want the book to end because of all the fun people that Glass created. They are flawed and ridiculous and oh so much fun.

If you need a book that'll keep you gripped till the end, this is the one for you.

3.5 for the audiobook. This was fun and entertaining. I am a sucker for motel, hotel, apartment settings. i also like underdogs and. down and out characters and this is full of those. I couldn’t give it a 4 because the story was a little silly and over the top. But it works if you are ready to suspend disbelief and just go with it.

The setting is The Sycamores in New Mexico - a seedy motel converted into an apartment complex. Cassidy "Cass" Abbott is the manager/fix-it person "handyma’am" who lives rent free repairing air conditioners, toilets and anything else the residents need. Cass was forced to abandon her upscale life when her live-in realtor boyfriend found a new, younger girlfriend and kicked her out of their home, which was in his name only. Cass is in need of money and has done some things she is not proud of. Anna Hartley also has new troubles. Struggling as a newspaper writer, she receives a desperate call from her husband Henry, who tells Anna he's ruined everything and admits to killing someone. Afterwards, his body is found, and his death is ruled a suicide. Anna moves into his apartment at The Sycamores, which he'd converted into an art studio, as she's hoping to learn more about Henry's death. As she starts putting things together, Anna receives threats to stop her investigation. The secrets Anna uncovers make her wonder if she ever truly knew her husband. And it becomes clear that the other residents are also hiding things. Could one of them be a murderer?

Author Seraphina Nova Glass has created a truly entertaining book in The Vacancy in Room 10. There's a lot going on here with the two main characters and the "over the top" residents of The Sycamores who add drama and humor. It's a fast-paced story that I didn't want to put down. The setting was so well done as was the cast of heavily flawed characters. Check out this satisfying read.

Rated 4.25 stars.

Decent mystery. Sketchy unreliable narrators, both of them. For me, this makes the book all that more intriguing.

Cass is down and out on her luck and makes some really unwise decisions as a result. Anna just lost her husband and is trying to sort through life he was living at the Sycamores apartments.

Tons of weird but hysterical side characters makes this such a good and fun read.

There was a lot going on and you didn’t have to be too invested in each character. One decent twist but overall just okay.

Love love love this author and her ability to paint a picture and the sarcasm and humor she writes in her characters. The pool girls are hilarious. I love all of the side stories and drama that veers off of the summary. The ending was a little meh for me which is why I rated it a 4 star.
