Baby Cakes by SJ Tilly is the perfect holiday treat—a three-part novella series wrapped up in one gorgeous package. I first fell in love with Alice and Michael in Second Bite a few years ago and have been craving more of their story ever since. This year, SJ Tilly played spicy Santa and delivered not one but two delicious novellas to complete the Bite series: Snowed In Bite and New Year’s Bite.
The story begins with Alice, an aspiring baker appearing on a popular baking show judged by none other than her longtime crush, Chef Michael Kesso. The moment these two meet, sparks fly—both on-screen and off. Michael’s instalove attraction is immediate and utterly swoon-worthy, and their connection only deepens when they take things outside the competition. This is where the first part of the story leaves you hungry for more.
Parts two and three pick up during Christmas and New Year’s, bringing all the holiday vibes. These novellas are packed with the perfect mix of spice, humor, and heart, leaving you feeling warm, satisfied, and totally ready for the season.
One of the reasons I adore SJ Tilly’s books is her ability to write male main characters who are the perfect mix of protective, caring, and wonderfully dirty-mouthed. Michael is no exception—he’s everything you’d want in a book boyfriend and more.
I don’t always love the instalove trope, but in a novella where the pace is faster, it just works—and SJ absolutely nails it. Michael and Alice feel like they’ve known each other forever, and their chemistry is undeniable. They’re the kind of couple you root for from start to finish.
If you’re looking for a quick, spicy, and heartwarming read, Baby Cakes is an absolute must before the holiday season is over.

~ Synopsis ~
Finding himself judging yet another holiday special of his hit baking competition TV show Second Bite—and spending another Christmas alone in a hotel room as a result—celebrity Chef Michael Kesso yearns for a happiness that no amount of media attention, money, or status can bring him. But when the lights go up for the first episode and he lays eyes on Alice Hatter, Michael knows exactly what he wants for Christmas—this year, and every year after. Michael and Alice’s budding relationship will have to face the hurdles of competition and fame, but Chef Michael doesn’t shy away from a challenge. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep this woman with her evergreen eyes, cherry-red lips, and a body he’ll write to Santa for.

~ Review ~
Featuring vibrant, curvy FMC Alice and grumpy silver fox MMC Michael, this insta-lust and insta-love collection of S.J. Tilly’s Bite novellas, Baby Cakes, is a fun, festive read perfect to get in the mood for the season. The setting of a baking competition is an entirely new one for me, but I loved the forbidden vibes it created in the first novella (Second Bite) and the tension it diffused through the third (New Year’s Bite). Lighthearted and tooth-achingly sweet, the collection is packed with more Christmas puns than a Christmas cracker—add in spice as hot as an Aussie Christmas, and it’s a gift that keeps on giving… just like Michael😉

 ARC Review ✨️

☆Alice & Michael☆

Baby Cakes is a combination of 3 amazing novellas. Michael is a professional/ celebrity chef, and he's about to judge a holiday baking competition. Alice is going to be one of the contestants. She's super nervous because not only is she one of his biggest fans, but she has had a crush in him for years as well.

S.J. Tilly came in hot with these novellas! I enjoyed each one, and I'm obsessed with the characters. I couldn't get enough of the banter between them! These stories were so steamy and festive. They're absolutely perfect. The author's way of writing made the characters, including the side characters, come to life, and it made the story so enjoyable! Michael is a dream, and if you're a fan of the great British bake off, this book is for you!

I am a SJ Tilly newbie, but after reading this trio of novellas I am definitely going to be reading more of her work!

Alice and Michael couldn't have been more perfect for each other. Alice loved to bake, luckily her cousins convinced her to fill out the form for Second Bite. Michael being the chef and show runner for Second Bite had no clue he was going to fall head over heels for Alice, until he layed eyes on her. It was kismet that they were both there, and he refused to let anyone else lay claim to her.

Michael is the possessive alpha male that so many women dream about. He knows what he wants and refuses to take no for an answer. He is known for his no take crap attitude. But what you don't see until he's behind closed doors with Alice is that he is an attentive and loving partner. In his words he takes care of his own. I loved that about him along with his way of protecting Alice when she was feeling any certain type of way other than good. He was always making sure that she was happy or content. When she wasn't feeling content within herself he showed her what he loved about her. He made her see that she was beautiful to him, and everyone else didn't matter.

Alice has a little bit or a lot of all of us in her. The plus size girl who doesn't always see her worth, or her beauty. I loved Alice so much throughout these novellas. She brought so much realness to the storylines. She showed how much an insecurity can come flooding back to front of your mind even when you have nothing to worry about. It is how our brains as humans and women work.

Alice embodied so many women throughout this story when she embraced her body, her mind and circumstances and went with her gut feelings. She got the handsome man, but she also gained so much more throughout the three novellas.

🔥 Let's Talk About Sex Baby 🥵:
Spice Level: 3🌶️/5

All 3 Novellas had some plot but let's be honest they were full of Christmas Smut. And that is what we all love about them!! Alice and Michael embraced their inner HO HO HO's and banged like bunnies. And I can say that I'm here for it! We got some Mr. And Mrs. Claus action going, along with some good play, and a little voyeurism.

These two had it all. I enjoyed every single scene and there were A LOT!

Thank you to SJ Tilly for the complimentary review copy in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion!

This book was so cute. I was giggling a lot, and the spice was so good. It wasn’t just the MCs that were great because Michael and Alice were just perfect together, but the side characters were so well written as well. I really enjoyed this book or series depending on how you see it.

Fun holiday read with spicy scenes and yummy treats.

Alice has a chance to compete on one of her favorite cooking shows, and also meet the broody but sexy older judge Michael. To say she has a crush on him, speaks mildly. She is obsessed with him and follows his career. She just needs to make a good impression with her baking skills, and hopefully he will notice her.

Notice her he does, before she starts baking. The moment he hears her voice, Michael is instantly wanting to know her more. He has a chance, and he takes it, and from there, he wants more and more.

This is 3 novellas in one story. The spicy scenes are more in the 2nd two books but the chemistry is there. Going from the competition show to a stuck in a snowed in cabin situation to another competition show keeps the reader entertain. Plus, it ties in two SJ Tilly's Alliance books (which I can't wait to read also)
