Author repeats the same information in several chapters, forgetting we already learned that bit. Other than that, for a debut book, this is a great narrative of Frida's life.

Arianna Davis shares her appreciation and admiration for Frida Kahlo. You become familiar with some of the challenges and context surrounding Frida Kahlo's tumultuous and creative life. Each chapter has a theme, and it helps to keep this in mind as events recur in the narrative to support that point.

If you don't have much insight into Frida's life, you gain a newfound appreciation for her ambition, boldness to be who she was - many decades ago. It makes you consider what can be for you, now.

Thank you to Netgalley and to Dreamscape Media/Seal Press for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

A really fun way to learn about Frida without glossing over too much of her life. I loved how the quotes were integrated into how to live like Frida. I really enjoyed learning about her friendships and how her art wasn't just paining but also in writing.

More of a 2.5. Extremely repetitive. The self-help sections were kind of strange and seemed forced. It was interesting to learn about Frida Kahlo’s life, though.

This is an accessible book to those interested in the feminist icon Frida.
It’s a bummer there wasn’t a bit more editorial work done as it’s quite repetitive.
Overall it’s interesting and a good summary of Frida’s life.

The author constantly repeats herself, guess the book could have been way shorter
informative inspiring medium-paced

It seemed to be written for each chapter to be enjoyed individually as the facts and stories were extremely redundant. I’d enjoyed that way, it is inspiring, well-researched, and fascinating.

This book was a very approachable biography. If you aren’t really into because they are often too much like textbooks, you shouldn’t worry about that with this one. It’s fun and cute. That being said, I found it pretty repetitive with some of the facts and each time they were mentioned it was as of it was the first time we were hearing it rather than a reminder of the fact, as if the author wrote the chapters separately and then put the book together at the end. Also, there are great explanations for her paintings, but no pictures of them so be ready to search for them online. After all of that, I will say that my favorite thing was that the author wrote the chapters as themes on Frida’s life rather than purely chronologically. Perhaps it is meant to be used as a reference book for segments of her life and that is why there is repetition of the information, that would make the most sense to me. The author also has a really adorable “what would Frida do” section after each chapter in which she talks about how Frida might handle different challenges we all face in life. Overall, really cute book and I’m glad I picked it up.

I enjoyed reading What Would Friday Do?. It’s a catchy and quick read that definitely piqued my interest in the author’s real story. However, I wish it had delved deeper into the details. It felt more like an introduction than a comprehensive exploration. Overall, it serves its purpose well as a teaser to get readers hooked on Frida’s real life and beliefs, struggles, and art.
